Arrested For DUI
In California after you have been arrested for DUI and are released from jail there are some things that you should do immediately to protect your rights. The first thing that you should do is to request a hearing from the Department of Motor Vehicles in regard to your license suspension. You have ten days after you are arrested to request a hearing or you will lose your right to a hearing. Your license will be suspended automatically thirty days after your arrest. Once you request a hearing the license will remain in effect at least until after your hearing. Usually the hearing will be set out about five weeks by the Department of Motor Vehicles. When you come in for your consultation you can discuss with Mr. Foos your possible defenses to the charges and what the consequences might be for a DUI. You can David Foos at 916-779-3500
For a significant portion of those that are arrested for DUI the next positive step would be to obtain some help for a drinking problem. If you voluntarily get yourself into some treatment such as Alcoholics Anonymous or alcohol counselling it will usually be very helpful for your case. Be sure to get documentation for any meetings that you do attend. Even if attendance at self-help meetings doesn’t help your court case, it most probably will have a positive effect on your life.
